World Première: String Orchestra Version of Penderecki's 3rd String Quartet

Krzysztof Penderecki headed his Third String Quartet with the poetic phrase ’Pages of an unwritten diary’, a reference to the past, to the author himself and his experiences. Now Penderecki has created an adaptation of this composition with its innate chamber musical style, episodic structure and numerous dramatic tempo changes for the Münchener Kammerorchester. This version is dedicated to Penderecki’s publisher Peter Hanser-Strecker in celebration of his 70th birthday and will be performed alongside works from a variety of Penderecki’s compositional phases in a composer’s portrait concert entitled ’Nachtmusik der Moderne’ [Night music of modern times].
