Peter Cornelius: Ave Maria

The composer Peter Cornelius from Mainz often called himself a 'poet-composer': It is no wonder therefore that he had devoted himself particularly to the composition of songs.

The newly edited 'Ave Maria' was found among the composer's unpublished works.

It is a simple, chordally accompanied song which is quite suitable for liturgical purposes. The piano part may be replaced by an organ.
