Kassandra-Rufe in sägendem Kammerton?

Address on the occasion of being presented with the "Hermann-Voss-Cultural Award of the German Orchestras" on 16 May 2006 in Bochum

Das Orchester 09/2006, Page 34
In his address Gerd Albrecht stresses the paramount importance of musical education or transmission, while at the same warning against the visible dangers, which today threaten classical music in Germany. Music education needs constancy; it cannot depend on short-lived and intermittent activities. Acknowledging the many valuable initiatives by small and big ensembles, Albrecht nonetheless deplores the general lack of interest shown by the media in these initiatives and in music education in general. Music education needs publicity in order to gain the necessary weight in the public mind.
