The mission and plans of the League of American Orchestras

Category: Essay
Das Orchester 05/2008, Page 28
The interview with Jesse Rosen, managing director of the League of American Orchestras, gives on overview of the activities of the organisation. Rosen points out the diverse nature of the League's member, ranging from national top ensembles to small regional groups. Accordingly, enquiries vary considerably as do the services offered. Electronic media are a hot topic, Rosen says, but the League also offers legal advice and pursues political lobbying. The League publishes a bi-monthly magazine for members and offers a wide range of training courses. It also supports contemporary music through residence programmes and the organisation of joint commissions.
