Description
The famous Wunderhorn song 'Wo die schönen Trompeten blasen' by Gustav Mahler forms the musical background of this work commissioned by the trumpet player Griseldis Lichdi.
Heucke's one-movement trumpet sonata of approximately 15 minutes' duration plays constantly with the approaching of and distancing from Mahler's original. Elements of the sonata form, multi-part song and free variation forms combine to form a many-faceted and exciting rhapsody.
