New Ways in the Field of Complete Editions
Complete editions are aimed at reviewing scientifically and documenting completely the overall musical oeuvre of a composer. In doing so, all available sources are examined and analysed: autographs, manuscript copies, sketches, first editions, as well as letters, diaries, concert reviews, documents from the works' history of reception and many more. Apart from the musical text of all works, the editions contain detailed texts on the body of source material and its analysis, textual notes on the versions and variants of the different sources, as well as interesting information on the history of the works and their performances.
As a publisher of academic books, Schott Music currently publishes 12 complete editions, including those of important composers such as Paul Hindemith, Arnold Schoenberg, Robert Schumann, Richard Strauss, Richard Wagner, Carl Maria von Weber, or Kurt Weill. In the genre 'Complete Editions' you find the latest information on new volumes, catalogues and order forms.
