Description
Revised edition of the famous choral songs by the composer of 'Bolero'. This cycle, too, is designed for a great climax. 'Nicolette' describes a simple, almost naïve fairy-tale character. The solos of the middle movement in the style of a sarabande can be performed by members of the choir. The final 'Rondo' is highly virtuoso, with an abundance of allusions to ancient mythological figures. This cycle is the ideal complement to the chansons by Claude Debussy (SKR 19006) or the French chansons by Paul Hindemith (C 43782).
