Since the triumphant tour of the 'Large ensemble' during 1995 at the very latest, the term MEGADRUMS is known to signify musical experiences of the highest order.
Since the mid-eighties, multi-instrumentalist, composer and MEGADRUMS-initiator Reinhard Flatischler is working as an ambassador of the "world language rhythm", bringing together the finest performers in the realm of percussion music on stage and in the studio. The result was and is always genre-crossing music of most extraordinary character. No wonder at a closer glance: From the very beginning, musicicans from the most different cultures have met in the MEGADRUMS-projects to create something new beyond the participants' individual background/s, thus naturally coming up with striking repertoire unlike anything 'typical' for a certain spot on the map. Flatischler's vision, to give rhythm with all it's variety and elementary power the focus of musical creation, has long developed it's own dynamics. What began in the 80s as the idea of an individual, has meanwhile become the common good of all the musicians who have partaken in the long musical adventure -- a living thing, organically grown and hard to outplay in terms of originality, complexity and magic.
