INTUITION - New Releases

The last Studio Album of Joe Zawinul

During the last years of his life, Joe Zawinul was concerned about his life after death. He intentionally recorded pieces, which were to be published after his death, in order to remain alive. Even If he did not become immortal with his countless milestones in the history of jazz, he would be remembered by the memorial of his work with Kristjan Järvi and the Absolute Ensemble.

Absolute Ensemble feat. Joe Zawinul

A real stroke of luck

Heinrich von Kalnein, Gregor Hilbe and Christian Bakanic are three musicians from different backgrounds and generations; all three with a similar talent and experience to personally invent music and play their own pieces with extraordinary talent and expression.

Kahiba: Global Dialects

A Masterpiece

Last year saw the release of his piano solo album "Senzo" which was critically acclaimed by the press and the audience. Just in time for his 75th birthday in 9 October, a new project of the master pianist is released. With "Bombella", Abdullah Ibrahim has again succeeded in creating a holistic work of art for which a restricting term such as jazz is much too limited.

Feast for the Ears

Even in his last CD, Protzer maintains the relaxed prevailing mood that is expected of him. Once again, he proves that he is not only a master of the quieter tones but that he can also play fast tempos and daring solos convincingly. A feast for the ears of all music lovers!

Rue de Paris: Trois

Charlie Mariano Died at Age 85

Charlie Mariano
had fought his cancer for a long time, yet lost the battle on 16 June 2009 at the age of 85. His death is mourned by all who knew him. He had been an active musician as long as he could. The adopted country of the US American who had played with Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie was Germany (city of Cologne). The other adopted country was India where he had often lived and worked for months. As a consequence, he became known not only because of his collaboration with the great jazz musicians mentioned above or with German artists and bands (such as Dieter Ilg or Herbert Grönemeyer) but also because of his profound knowledge of and deep attachment to Indian music. Numerous albums have been released on the labels MPS, Enja, Jazz4Ever, INTUITION and Double Moon Records among others.

We bow down in reverence for a great artist and person.

A Classic

"Do The Don’t" (released for the first time in Europe, with five bonus works) is an indispensable gem for every blues fan who regards this music as more than a nostalgic trip to an imaginary past. Blues with the full potency of the early twenty-first century. A classic.

Long time awaited Piano Solo Album

"Senzo" is nothing less than a masterpiece. It is particularly the relaxed anchoring of the spontaneously captured moment in eternity that makes this recording stand out from the masses of piano albums that are currently flooding the market.

Abdullah Ibrahim: Senzo

A big Album with small Songs

"
East Of The Aegean" is nothing less than the quest of one of the great fighters of the twentieth century to make peace with himself. A big album with small songs full of love and anticipated memories.

Mikis Theodorakis: East Of The Aegean
