Add to notepad Krzysztof Penderecki: De natura sonoris no. 2
for orchestra (1971)
Instrumentation: orchestra
Categories: Orchestra Film Suspense breathless Torpor Confusion Fear Aggression
Music that is reminiscent of the sounds at a shipyard: wails of sirens, booming hammer blows, singing saws, sounds of hammers or metal saws on railway tracks. The ghastly atmosphere of Krzysztof Penderecki's 'De natura sonoris 2' is increased by buzzing static sounds which alternate with aggressive eruptions of noise. In his work composed in 1971 on the nature of sound, the Polish composer creates almost breathtaking sound effects thanks to the rich use of percussion and unusual instruments.
