For more than 50 years WERGO has been synonymous with a program of contemporary music in ambitious presentations. In addition to solo, chamber, and orchestral recordings of new music, it has also included electronic music, the radio forms known as Ars Acustica, and more recent developments that bridge many arts.

WERGO has, moreover, also made special efforts in the area of documenting varied current and historical phenomena in world music and documenting the world of Jewish music.
